Borders in Landscapes

Borders accompany humans from their first steps on planet Earth. They are imagined and real, located in space and in the human mind. They form the boundaries by which society is defined on the basis of various ideas, ideologies and interests or controlled lands and territorial units - regions. Regions have evolved and changed over time. Their location, extent and boundaries were shaped by geographical conditions and the benefit of individual groups of populations that shared common power, national, economic, cultural and other, often very specific goals. The borders thus became a significant civilizational, historical and geographical value. The publication "Borders in Landscapes" offers various, often unique views of Central European borders and provide a comparison with the beginnings of medieval and modern borders, especially in the 20th century.
