Incorrect literature. Political Correctness in Czech Literature and Literary Communication

SEGI STEFAN

Political correctness is a controversial phenomenon that is becoming a subject of heated debates concerning politics, society, culture and art even in the Czech Republic. This publication aims to examine the reaction of the Czech literary scene to the demands associated with political correctness. Correctness is not understood as an entirely restrictive phenomenon but as an extremely complex and productive social phenomenon that shapes the poetics of "non-correct" literary texts and sparks debates about the meaning and nature of Czech post-Soviet literature. The studies forming the core of the book focus not only on high literature and works for children and teenagers but also on popular literature, such as action fantasy and works by Vlastimil Vondruška.
