The Velká kotlina phenomenon. Part 1. Flora, Vegetation, Fauna

BUREŠ LEO

The Velká kotlina glacial cirque in Hrubý Jeseník ranks among the richest botanical localities in the Czech Republic. The diversity of its flora and vegetation is also connected with the species diversity of its fauna, especially invertebrates. The first part of the monograph contains detailed floristic, phytocenological and faunistic data based on almost fifty years of the author's field research and on studies of existing specialist literature, including works from the 19th century. It comprises detailed maps of the current vegetation from 1974 and 2009, including their comparison. Species inventories of vascular plants, lichens, bryophytes, fungi, invertebrates, and vertebrates, as well as unique phytocenoses and habitats, are documented by several hundred colour photographs. Digital maps and comprehensive phytocenological tables are included on the enclosed CD. The book is also accompanied by a printed map of the established local toponymy of individual landforms and watercourses.
