Counter-espionage operation Terat

PULEC MARTIN

This book presents an exceptional and hitherto unknown case in the history of the Third (anti-communist) Resistance. It is based on a critical study of archival documents and memories of witnesses. Two stories are brought together in a text that stands on the borderline between non-fiction and scholarly historical study. The first story describes the fate of the collaborators of the foreign espionage resistance against the then people's democratic regime in Czechoslovakia and at the same time gives an insight into the activities of the security apparatus in the first half of the 1950s. It also takes note of a number of human fates affected by the times and thus gives a glimpse from their point of view into a very complex and gloomy period of Czechoslovak modern history. The second story depicts the contemporary pitfalls of the search for the truth in documenting the case. The common climax of the stories is the tracking down of the daughter, the main character in the case, living in Germany, and the correspondence with her. Extensive pictorial material is an important part of the text.
