ANTOŠÍKOVÁ LUCIE,BRUNOVÁ MARIE

This book is a collection of studies presented at the Institute for Czech Literature of the Czech Academy of Sciences as part of the Literary and Scientific Forum 2019 Czechs, Germans and Protectorate Literature. The individual guests discussed the institutionalisation and ideologization of literature in the period under review (Steffen Höhne), the image of the Protectorate in contemporary literature (Peter Becher), the Protectorate works of the leading representative of German literature in the First (Prewar) Republic, Hans Watzlik (Václav Maidl), the fate of German-language publishing houses in the Protectorate (Murray G. Hall), and the management of the Czech press under Nazi rule (Jan Cebe). The volume is introduced by two contextualizing studies on German literature in the Protectorate by the editors, one devoted to literary life in context and the other presenting the contemporary work of German-language authors in the Protectorate, as well as a study on the exile work of selected German-language authors in the period under review (Jan Budňák).
