In the Coordinates of Restlessness: Czech Literature of the Second Decade of the 21st Century in Con

ŠIDÁKOVÁ FIALOVÁ ALENA, HRUŠKA PETR, JUNGMANNOVÁ LENKA

The publication focuses on the latest Czech literature through interpretations of selected literary works published between 2011 and 2020, alongside scholarly studies. The introductory study examines the issues of literary life in the second decade of the 21st century, the relationship between literature and society, the role of the state in literary activity, analyses the position of authors, and describes their professional associations. It looks at literary awards, festivals, public readings, publishing houses, literary journals, and literary criticism. The study identifies the most significant trends of the period, such as the emergence of mainstream literature, digitalization, and gender issues. The subsequent sections of the book are devoted to individual literary genres: prose, poetry, and drama. An introductory overview study describes the initial state of each genre, its typology, transformations, and emerging trends specific to the genre. This is followed by interpretations of poetry collections, prose works, and plays selected to most accurately characterize the period under study. The approach and structure of the book build upon the volumes In the Coordinates of Freedom (Academia, 2008) and In the Coordinates of Plurality (Academia, 2014), forming a series exploring contemporary literary production decade by decade.
