L'opera italiana - tra l'originale e il pasticcio

This collection contains papers from the sixth international conference on 18th-century Italian operas in the Czech lands, held in September 2020 under the title L'opera italiana - tra l'originale e il pasticcio (Italian Operate- Between Original and Pasticcio). The practice of pasticcios, or operas on an appealing theme that were usually compiled by a local theatre impresario based on successful arias of already performed operas, was a particular phenomenon of the 18th-century Italian opera. This practice was common at a time when copyright did not yet exist. Twelve papers by European scholars examine the performance of pasticcios across Europe.
