Modern Czech Drama (1896–1945)

This comprehensive lexicographical work compiles essential information on major plays (both texts and their stagings) that played a significant role in the literary and theatrical evolution of Czech culture. As a work-focused dictionary, it aims to fill a substantial gap in Czech theatre studies by providing the scholarly community with a reference book offering 200 to 250 entries that present a comprehensive report on approximately one hundred years of developments in Czech playwrighting. The first volume contains around 110 entries devoted to plays from the first half of the 20th century.
