Opera omnia 26/II. Epistulae; Pars II, 1639–1641

KOMENSKÝ JAN AMOS

The second volume of the critical edition of Comenius' correspondence covers the relatively short period from the beginning of 1639 to the middle of 1641, i.e. until his departure for London. During this period, Comenius exchanged letters among the others with Samuel Hartlib, Joachim Hübner, Martin Opitz, Marin Mersenne, an important noble patron Boguslaw Leszczyński, and Daniel Stolz von Stolzenberg. The volume contains an edition of 35 letters in the original languages with abstracts in English, voluminous annotations in English, bibliography, an appendix with images of some of the original manuscripts and printed letters, and indices of persons, works and geographical names. The editors of the volume, Markéta Klosová and Vladimír Urbánek, coordinated the team of experts including Martin Steiner, Marcela Slavíková, Lucie Storchová, Kateřina Šolcová, Lenka Řezníková, Vojtěch Balík, Magda Králová, and Václav Bok.
