Plant Identification Handbook

Vegetation of the Czech Republic is highly diverse thanks to the country’s location in the heart of Europe. During the Pleistocene, it was enriched by plant species of the cold North and later by warm-loving flowers from the South of Europe; until today it has been influenced by the geographic proximity of two major European mountain rages: the Alps and the Carpathians. Many other plant species were introduced as a result of human activity, both intentional and unintentional. Utilising the latest research in the fields of systematics/taxonomy and field botany, this new, completely redesigned Plant Identification Handbook describes the vegetation in the territory of the Czech Republic, including over 3,700 plant species and subspecies. The identification of individual species is made simple thanks to state-of-are illustrations and brief textual commentaries featuring the description of individual plants, information about their distribution, typical habitats and efflorescence. The Handbook is meant for all members of the public interested in identifying plants, in particular botanists, students, teachers and nature conservationists
