Slime Molds. Intelligent Beauties

Neither plants, nor animals, not even fungi. That alone fascinates many. Slime molds attract scientists from various fields; they challenge home breeders and macro photographers. Although slime molds are becoming increasingly popular, a comprehensive study in Czech had until now been missing. Written unconventionally in the first person – “we, the slime molds”, this book seeks to fill the gap. Slime molds thus introduce themselves in all their diversity and beauty. The heart of the publication lies in its colorful macro photographs. In a series of short texts, slime molds guide you through their life, their intelligence, their relationship to humans, as well as their significance in nature. Last but not least, they describe and show features that even a beginner enthusiast can use to identify common species. For more advanced observers, micro-characteristics are also included for a number of species, illustrated by microscope images.
