The Czech Word-Formation Approach in the Context of Slavic Linguistics

BOZDĚCHOVÁ IVANA, NIŠEVA BOŽANA, SKWARSKA KAROLÍNA

In the context of the recent life jubilees of Miloš Dokulil (1912-2002), a leading Czech linguist and world-renowned expert in word formation, this monograph by a collective of authors seeks to map and evaluate the influence of the Czech approach on further word-formation studies. It presents some of the current projects and explorations in the field of word formation focusing on outputs that build on the scholarly contribution of Miloš Dokulil, enriching and developing the word-formation (and more broadly linguistic) theory. The papers are divided into three basic thematic areas: Theoretical and Methodological Aspects of Word-Formation Research – the Possibilities and Limits; Word Formation in the Language System; and Word Formation in Slavic Languages. The publication includes thirty-two papers written in seven Slavic languages and in English.
